Hurricane Tropical Storm Adrian crossed the 160° line this morning, but is quickly losing steam. The latest public advisory (#17) from the National Hurricane Center reports the storm is tracking West at 12 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. The forecast calls for additional weakening during the next 48 hours, with Adrian dropping below tropical storm intensity in about 36 hours.
The latest Point Loma Wavewatch model show a slight increase in swell period from wind waves generated by Adrian, but the overall effect is negligible, with tertiary swell conditions expected to be 0.6 feet at 10.4 seconds on Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. PDT. Yawn.
The tail end of next week is still looking solid though (high-res version of the latest Point Loma South Wavewatch forecast), with a new groundswell filling from the South (187°) late Wednesday and producing waves into the weekend.
