Here’s a look at the past 23-hours of Barbers Point buoy observations. You can see the current South swell continuing to build, with the latest reports in the 5 feet at 17 seconds range.
Also take a look at the increasing Average Wave Period, which was hovering around 7-seconds on Tuesday, but has now increased to 11-seconds as of the latest report and steadied around 190°.
Buoy 51003 (205 NM Southwest of Honolulu) is still reporting 16-second swell periods, and is forecast to remain above 13 seconds through Thursday, so look for surf to slowly fade through Friday. Below is the 6-day outlook for @buoy51003 as of Wednesday at 2:00 a.m. HST (high-res):
A long-period South reinforcement is expected to fill Thursday night, but will likely be obscured by local East-Southeast wind swell on the real-time reports. That reinforcement isn’t quite as big as the current South swell, but should provide a nice push into the weekend. Definitely a solid outlook through the weekend.
