Hawaii & Southern California Forecast Remains Favorable

East Pacific Swell Wave Period & Direction (Tue Aug 30, 2011 00z)

The forecast for next week continues to look really good, with long-period swell lines making the jump from the South Pacific into the East Pacific regional chart (Above: swell period and direction for Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at midnight UTC). If the conditions hold up, it could be one of the better swells of the 2011 Summer season for both Hawaii and California.

Based on the latest models, we anticipate the swell to arrive in Hawaii next Monday-Tuesday (8/29-8/30), with California seeing action beginning late Thursday-Friday (9/1-9/2). The swell will be packing a healthy amount of energy, so expect at least a few days of surf from it. We’ll be back mid-week with an update.
