Billabong Pro Tahiti: Massive Swell & Favorable Winds

The latest forecast for the 2011 Billabong Pro has both Kelly Slater and the medical staff concerned, as huge surf is expected to peak on Saturday with conditions in the 15 feet at 18 seconds range (SSW 198°).

Anyone who wants to paddle around me Saturday has my official blessing. @joelparko just pretend it’s snapper.

Currently, a new South-Southwest swell is building, but the event remains on hold is off today as local winds are impacting conditions. The winds are looking a lot better from Saturday onward, as they’re forecast to turn East, then Northeast, and ease through Monday.
